“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”

Johann Wolfgang Goethe

About me

Everything I do is connected to the sea. Apart from sailing on so called “small” yachts I have spent years working on tall ships such as SV Concordia, SV Soerlandet, S/y Kapitan Borchardt and STS Fryderyk Chopin. On the last two I sailed as captain.

As an enthusiast of maritime education of young peope I cooperated with the Canadian Class Afloat, I also helped create its Polish equivalent – The Blue School program on board of the STS Fryderyk Chopin.

My 20 years of experience in training prove that I love to share my knowledge with others. Presently I teach advanced courses of nautical knowledge and maritime radio communications.

I use the experience I gained at sea and during my teaching career in my books – there are ten in the bookstores at the moment. My articles were published on regular basis in magazines such as Jachting, SEC&AS, Środowisko and the National Geographic Traveler.  Presently I write for the new sailing magazine Zeglarstwo. Last but not least, I also translate British sailing manuals for Almapress and Nautica Publishing Houses.

Articles

My articles can be found in new and incredibly interesting Polish sailing magazine – Żeglarstwo. I focus there on safety related issues and marine accidents.

I used to write for Jachting magazine. Our cooperation  started many years ago. My texts covered i.a. maritime accidents’ analysis and English maritime terminology tutorials.

Occasionally I happen to write for SEC&AS and Środowisko.

Apart from visiting new places aboard yachts I liketo travel on land, mainly on horseback. My adventures are described in the National Geograhic Traveler.

Translations

The knowledge of English together with university studies on the subject allow me to translate books – sailing manuals. I have cooperated in this area with the leading publishing houses in Poland – Almapress and Nautica.

Books

Noticing the difficulties faced by Polish sailors regarding learning the English nautical terminology motivated me to create “Angielski dla żeglarzy” and “Rozmówki portowe”. Both books worked for subsequent editions.

As enthusiast of tall ships I had the pleasure of co-creating the following positions. The second album is enriched with vast historical and technical material and is undoubtedly an attractive source of knowledge about traditional sailing.

It is important to keep track of one’s experience at sea. This task seems to be way easier with the following booklets.

As long as I remember I was interested in all aspects of safety at sea.  Having read numerous descriptions of maritime accidents I came to conclusion, that there is always more than one reason of a tragedy. This is what I attempted to emphasise in my books.

Together with Jacek Santorski we decided to combine our interests – aspects of leadership  and maritime sailing. The book comprises of eight interviews with top Polish sailors.

A manual for people willing to prepare for their first sailing experience as well as those planning to take exam and get a license – sounds like a challenge! The book is compatible with training syllabus by Polish Yachting Association. It is also recommended  by PYA.

I have been teaching maritime radio communications for over a decade.  Therefore I know that one of the biggest problems for trainees and practitioners is the standarized English language. The following books are the answer to their needs and present all necessary knowledge in an organized way.
